The wonder of childhood

Eight-year-old Angie Scarth-Johnson is a crusher.

In this video she ticks The Tube (24) in the Bluies and Nowra’s Uncertainty Pleasure (22).

The footage might be a bit rough and raw but VL reckons it is wonderful, as in full of wonder. Yes, it’s a wonder to see one so young climbing so hard, but we were thinking about a different kind of wonder. For us the beauty of this shaky video is the opportunity to see Angie climbing with all the wonder of a child. Childhood is after all the ultimate expression of the scientific method as the developing person tests and probes everything again and again and you can see that in this video as Angie is figuring the (rock) world out.

We have a profile of Angie in Issue 3, which you can download here for free: https://www.verticallifemag.com.au/mags/
