German climber Alexander Megos – famous for onsighting what is potentially the world’s first 9a/35 – is currently in Australia climbing in the Grampians. Though he hasn’t been here for long Megos hasn’t wasted any time, racking up what is almost certainly (and by a long way) the fastest ascent of the Wheel of Life (35/36) in the world-famous Hollow Mountain Cave.
According to our reports, Megos had his first session in the Cave last week, climbing Cave Rave (V13) three times, before coming back for his second session on Saturday when he completed the full Wheel of Life on his third attempt of the day. Astoundingly, the actual send of the problem was also the first time he had completed the middle section of the roof, Sleepy Hollow (V12).
For good measure an hour later he sent Stimulation (V13), also in the cave, in a couple of shots.
Megos is not the only strong climber in the Grampians at present, in fact there has probably never been so many of the world’s best in the park at one time, with Paul Robinson, Daniel Woods, Nalle Hukkataival and Dave Graham all here to crush, it seems it is the time to climb Down Under.
Flock Hill?
The other Down Under JP.
And the rest! There’s also Carlo Traversi working it and some super strong girls out here crushing as well! Awesome to see!!!
Too true Eddie, the strong are hear in droves.
…and there are also some other strong german climbers out there like Andi B., Doro K. and Dani M.!
Keep on cranking!
Grampians: One of the best climbing /bouldering areas in the world!!!
